OUTDOOR PROGRAMS SUSPENDS CAVING ACTIVITIES DUE TO SPREAD OF WHITE NOSE SYNDROME White-nose syndrome (WNS) is a malady of unknown origin that has killed hundreds of thousands of bats across the northeast United States during the past three years and continues unchecked. WNS threatens many federally endangered bat species as well as some of the largest bat populations in the country and has now been confirmed in caves in Virginia. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has requested a voluntary moratorium on on all caving activity in states known to have hibernacula affected by WNS, and all adjoining states, unless conducted as part of an agency-sanctioned research or monitoring project. In compliance with a call for a voluntary moratorium, outdoor programs will suspend all caving activities until further notice. learn more...
Outdoor Programs
Dedicated to Human Powered Outdoor Adventure Since 1973
At Outdoor Programs, we love adventure! We crave the challenges that come from engaging with the natural world. We value the gains that come from a life lived in awe - and greater understanding - of wild places. Outdoor Programs has offered ASU Students, Faculty and Staff a chance to get outside and seek challenge and adventure for nearly 35 years. We are NOT a club and there is NO membership required. Expeditions, trips, clinics, workshops and trainings are happening many evenings and almost every weekend making OP your adventure resource at ASU. From 3 hour team building experiences to 55 day international expeditions, state of the art indoor climbing center to rental gear, OP has something for everyone. Join us on a workshop, training, trip, expedition, or just drop by the Student Recreation Center to find out more about us.
| Our mission is to serve the educational, recreational and developmental needs of the ASU community by utilizing human-powered, outdoor adventure pursuits, experiential education methods and the natural environment. The program provides opportunities for challenging experiences in outdoor settings. |
