Join us for an Outdoor Programs and High Country tradition. The Banff Mountain Film Festival comes to Boone for the 18th annual "Best of the Festival" World Tour on Friday, March 28 and Saturday, March 29, 2014 at The Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts.
The Banff Mountain Film Festival features the world's best films on mountain adventure, culture, and the environment selected from hundreds of entries submitted from around the world. We choose screenings designed to educate, entertain, and inspire you.
APPALACHIAN ADVENTURE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Appalachian State University's Outdoor Programs wants your help to identify the High Country's young mountain sports stars and role models to be recognized through the first annual A4 initiative. As part of their honorary selection, A4 winners will receive recognition on stage at the Banff Mountain Festivals and a generous selection of prizes from project sponsors.

The 11th Annual Appalachian Mountain Photography Competition (AMPC) opened for registration and submissions in September 2013. Amateur and professional photographers 13 years of age and older are encouraged to submit at www.appmtnphotocomp.org prior to the competition’s close at 5pm on Friday, November 22, 2013. The Appalachian Mountain Photography Competition offers numerous categories that will be chosen as winners with over $4,000 in cash and prizes.
A partnership between Appalachian State University Outdoor Programs, the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts, and the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation, AMPC celebrates the unique people, places, and pursuits that distinguish the Southern Appalachians and attracts entries from across the United States. The Appalachian Mountain Photography Competition has grown into one the region’s most prestigious photography competitions with over 1,000 submissions last year and viewed in person by over 10,000 people at the Turchin Center for Visual Arts. The AMPC is made possible through the generous sponsorship of Virtual Blue Ridge, the premier online resource for the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Mast General Store, and Smokey Mountain Living .
