Team Building and Trips for Academic Classes

General:

Outdoor Programs offers campus groups unique and challenging courses designed to develop positive interpersonal dynamics. These courses are a fun and effective way to establish communication and mutual understanding in your group or organization. Our trained facilitators provide your group with a meaningful, transferable, and memorable experience. Outdoor Programs contracts these courses on an individual basis and tailors them to meet your group’s specific needs. For more information regarding challenge courses or to schedule one today, call 262-2475.

Group Interaction Course (GIC):

The Group Interaction Course (GIC) is a series of low-to-the-ground elements designed to enhance group interaction. The GIC is an excellent way for new groups to get to know one another and for existing groups to build on already developed foundations. Typical topics covered in this experience are teamwork, trust, positive communication patterns, problem solving, and creative ways to explore group dynamics.

Team Expedition Challenge (TEC):

This course was designed by our staff as an alternative to the traditional low ropes concept. The same types of group development themes found in the GIC are utilized; however, the physical process is completely different. In the TEC, the group is given a challenge in which all of the components are integral links in an expeditioning theme.

Team Development Course (TDC):

The Team Development Course (TDC) utilizes a creative new design to explore group dynamics. The structure provides an interesting new approach that represents some of the most dynamic group initiatives in the adventure education field today. Themes explored in this course include trust, compassion, and communication. The TDC acts as an excellent progression from the Group Interaction Course.

Alpine Tower (AT):

The Alpine Tower provides participants with personal and group challenges that incorporate climbing a fifty-foot structure. Settings like this are an opportune time to reflect on perceived limits, moving beyond those limits, trust and perseverance. The Alpine Tower also offers a “swing-by-choice” element that is a dramatic way to conclude your high course experience.

Adventure Trips:

Outdoor Programs can also be contracted to provide door-to-door guided trips in rock climbing, whitewater rafting and caving.  We can take your group out for a day of fun or we custom design an experience that helps your group reach specific outcomes.
