Climbing Wall Programmer

Year: Senior
Major: Recreation Managment

Favorite Outdoor Activities: Rock climbing, snowboarding, trail running and boogie boarding.

Favorite Memory at Outdoor Programs: Setting the climbing wall has always been my favorite job at OP and my favorite memory has to be the first time I was part of a set. We jammed out to old school hip hop and set boulders that were straight fire! That was the first time I felt I was truly apart of the OP family.

Why I love Appalachian: The high quality of humans on this mountain really cannot be beat. There is support as well as oppurtunity for adventure everyday as well as a stellar focus on sustainability.

Major: Recreation Managment

Favorite Outdoor Activities: Whitewater rafting, whitewater kayaking, backpacking, and surfing through whatever means possible.

Favorite Memory at Outdoor Programs: Sitting on a remote beach in the Everglades National Park, sharing stories and inspiration around the camp fire, appreciating the moment.

Why I love Appalachian: I love ASU because it is such a community. The students and faculty together facilitate such a welcoming and growth-inducing environment, it's hard not to love this place.  It also doesn't hurt that we have such a great backyard to go and adventure in!

Programmer for Blue Ridge Parkway Core & Facility Medical

Year: Senior
Major: Recreation Management

Favorite Outdoor Activities: When I am not working you will probably find me rock climbing, hiking, walking a pup, chillin' in a tube, or boppin' down Rivers Street.

Favorite Memory at Outdoor Programs: Going out to Linville Gorge for the Intro to Climbing trip last year was awesome. I got a chance to climb on real rock for the first time! It got me so psyched to become a stronger climber, and I can't imagine where my life would be now if this didn't happen.

Why I love Appalachian: The community here is amazing. When I am at OP, the farmer's market, with loved ones, or even when I am alone, I feel an overwhelming sense of belongingness. The people of Appalachia have won my heart.

Favorite Outdoor Activities: Rock climbing, trail running, backpacking, swimming, and playing with dogs!

Favorite Memory at Outdoor Programs: Spending two weeks in the Tetons with some of my favorite people in the whole world!  Those mountains are huge and overwhelming,  but so beautiful.  The trip filled me with gratitude and psych from my head to my toes.

Why I love Appalachian: Appalchian rocks! I love being a part of a community that is always so psyched and down to go on adventures.  I am so greatful for a home that fosters such good vibes and such strong union.  These mountains have become so special to me and they will always have a place in my heart!
